The Duomo construction site is located at the Duomo to allow the workers to operate directly in situ.
Today the construction site continues to be the centre of important activities: restoring and preserving stone structures, installing and updating technological systems, laying ornamentation and elements from the marble workers’ site, fitting stained glass windows, paintings, wooden and metal elements, keeping the grandiose original building complex in efficient working order, preparing vestments and liturgical furnishings and providing decoration for the services and for the entire building.
The specialist workers of Veneranda Fabbrica work, often on very high scaffolding, in this huge, complex and emblematic site, at times assisted by outside professionals.
In this extraordinary site, bricklayers and marble workers, metal workers and smiths, electricians and carpenters, restorers and machine operators, all guided by the technicians in charge, use their ability and experience handed down and accumulated from generation to generation.
These ancient “trades” are continuously evolving, thanks to the contribution of new technologies resulting from ongoing scientific research, of which Veneranda Fabbrica has always made full use.
