Stained Glass

The extensive collection of stained glass documents both the huge fifteenth and sixteenth century production of the various workshops of Lombard, French, German and Flemish master glass workers, and the nineteenth century revival and renewal of the art of stained glass by the Bertini family.

The collection also illustrates the technical and stylistic development of the art of stained glass over the centuries and gives the visitor the chance to observe the delicate and precious details of the Cathedral windows, which cannot be seen from a distance, from close up, thus offering a unique insight into this difficult and highly refined art.
