Touring Club Italiano and Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano signed an agreement on 3 September 2013 under which Touring Club Cultural Heritage Volunteers lend a hand at the New Grande Museo del Duomo and the Archives of the Veneranda Fabbrica.
The Museum, housed in Palazzo Reale, recently reopened with a totally new exhibition layout designed by Arch. Guido Canali. It has an area of two thousand square metres and twenty-seven rooms housing the Treasury of the Duomo and thirteen thematic areas, which are completed by the story told by the Archives, a day-by-day diary of the city from 1387 to date.
We need your help too to continue bring the greatest story of Milan back to life: a very valuable civic and social commitment to play an active part in Milanese cultural life. With the Aperti per Voi [Open for You] programme you can join the over 1600 Touring Club Cultural Heritage volunteers who make it possible for tourists to visit artistic and cultural sites all over Italy.
TCI's commitment is to guarantee that these sites are systematically and continuously open by providing Volunteers, who ensure that visitors are welcomed and receive guidance information, as well as providing surveillance of the sites. By donating part of your free time, you will be able to directly enjoy the cultural sites of your city, guaranteeing that museums, historical buildings, archaeological areas and churches are open to visitors.
From 2005 to today, over 2 million residents and tourists have been able to visit more than 50 cultural sites thanks to the keen support and enthusiasm of the Touring Club Cultural Heritage volunteers. So why wait? Go to page www.apertipervoi.it and fill in the form online, you will soon be contacted with all information on our activity.
